PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - In the wake a mass shooting that left two children and over a dozen others injured at a Minneapolis Catholic school, Peoria Police Chief Eric Echevarria is reiterating his call of “Stand Up. Show Up. Be There” for the youth in Peoria.

Echevarria is calling on every man and woman in the city to volunteer at their child’s school, mentor a young person, and report warming signs before they escalate, making Peoria a city where children can walk freely, learn safely and dream boldly.

“Because one shooting, whether here or across the country, is one too many,” he said.

He made the initial call late Sunday night for male role models to gather at Manual High School the next morning, following two separate shooting incidents.
