A 27-year-old man stole thousands from former high school classmates in Lancaster County after offering them Philadelphia Eagles season tickets he said he got through his job at ESPN Bet, police said.
After the tickets never arrived, the victims pushed for a refund and Paul Murray, of Montgomery County, wrote them a bad check from a bank account that had been closed for more than a year, police said.
Police charged Murray with three felony counts of theft by deception—false impression and bad checks, according to documents filed by Northern Lancaster County Regional police.
Police said Murray had been peddling tickets to former classmates, including a woman who agreed and convinced her two friends to buy tickets through Murray.
