Tuesday was Krys Barch’s first training camp as a head coach in the Ontario Hockey League and Frank Evola’s as a general manager at the major junior level.
Both gave the opening day of Niagara IceDogs training camp at Meridian Centre in St. Catharines high marks. Barch thought it was a “good day,” and Evola was pleased no one was hurt.
“You always like to see that,” said Evola, who took over hockey operations in Niagara after serving as director of scouting and hockey operations with the Windsor Spitfires and winning a Memorial Cup with the Oshawa Generals in 2015 as scouting director.
