A new study led by Niagara Health hopes to find ways of enhancing community hospital research programs, ultimately improving patient care.

The hospital system’s Niagara Health Knowledge Institute (NHKI) has been awarded a $250,000 grant to lead a three-year study, working with other Ontario hospitals with established research departments, to identify strategies to increase research at local hospitals, helping ensure patients have access to the same cutting-edge research offered at larger academic centres.

In a media release, Niagara Health said research programs such as clinical trials can make a life-changing difference to patients, giving them access to new treatments and therapies that aren’t yet widely available.
