BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - On Wednesday, William Carey University announced former NFL quarterback Archie Manning as the guest speaker during the school’s 14th annual Scholarship Gala at the Coast Coliseum.
“We are proud to welcome native Mississippian Archie Manning to one of our most cherished annual traditions,” said Karen Golson, WCU’s director of advancement. “The Scholarship Gala provides life-changing assistance to our students.”
Manning was born in Drew, Miss., and his rise to fame began as a quarterback at Ole Miss. In 1971, he was the second player chosen in the NFL Draft, taken by the New Orleans Saints. During a 14-year NFL career, he set most Saints passing records, played in Pro Bowls, and was the NFC’s most valuable player in 1978. He is a member of the National Football Found
