NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A man wanted for murder in Honduras was taken into custody in Kenner after a standoff with law enforcement, authorities said.

International fugitive, Elviss Caballero-Zuniga, surrendered to a Kenner Police Department SWAT team’s robot and drone team.

What began as a routine traffic stop escalated when the Honduran national fled into a wooded area, according to officials. An initial search was unsuccessful, but records later showed he was the subject of an active INTERPOL Red Notice for homicide with a firearm in Honduras.
