The Great Wiener Dog Derby drew a field of 23 dachshunds on Aug. 27.
Although cash prizes were given to the top dogs, the event was fun and highly entertaining.

CANTON − Jessica Broska squatted on the dirt track at the Stark County Fair and cheered and coaxed her dachshund to the finish line from 20 yards away.
Clutching her dog Hank's favorite plush toy, she shook it in the air as she urged forward the pint-sized pooch in the final heat of the Great Wiener Dog Derby on the afternoon of Aug. 27.
