A former school aide has sued the Bloomfield Board of Education and a staffing agency, claiming she was reassigned and later terminated after reporting a teacher for locking students in a padded room .
Amanee Mercedat, of East Orange, was hired in June 2024 by ESS Support Services , a staffing agency that places aides in schools across the United States.
Mercedat claims she was punished for reporting conduct she believed unprofessional and in violation of state law.
