ROCKFORD (WREX) — As the school year progresses for RPS 205, Superintendent Dr. Ehren Jarrett reflects on his final year with the district before transitioning to a new role as Hononegah's superintendent next year.
Dr. Jarrett is focused on improving the graduation rate and reducing chronic absenteeism, both of which have lagged behind state averages.
"I think we've gotta do a better job of making sure students are attending the vast majority of their days," Jarrett said. "Hopefully even getting some extra time before or after school or during the summertime to help close learning gaps. I think there's still more work to do in those areas."
He remains optimistic about this year's Illinois Report Card, hoping it will show RPS 205 surpassing the 75 percent graduation rate hurdle. Jarrett
