"There was a lot of anger, I didn't know how to start, I didn't know how to feel," Rios said.

The couple, engaged and expecting a baby, along with Lindsey's eight-year-old son, were ready to start a new life in a home they planned to rent.

"We started with the strict goal that we would find a place of our own to start a family and build some roots," Russo said.
