NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Tweed- New Haven Airport, or HVN, continues to generate substantial funding for its various expansion projects.

On Tuesday, airport officials announced that HVN has received two Federal Aviation Administration grants amounting to more than $3.1 million to support the expansion of the runway as well as other active projects.

A release from HVN said that the investments will improve safety, extend the life of existing infrastructure and prepare the airport to better meet the travel needs of the region.

The grant will allow for the runway to be expanded by 975 feet. It will also lead to taxiway improvements, as the team at the airport modernizes the facility.
