In a pitching duel between the TinCaps and the Dayton Dragons on Wednesday at Parkview Field, the Dragons were quickest to the draw.
After giving up three runs in the first inning, the TinCaps were then stifled by stellar Dayton pitching throughout a 3-2 loss in front of 3,723 fans, giving the Dragons their ninth straight win.
Fort Wayne (55-66, 24-32 second half) is now mathematically eliminated from playoff contention in the Midwest Leauge's East Division with 10 games to go. They sit just 1/2 game ahead of Dayton (43-75, 22-31) for fourth place in the second half.
