COLE COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - A legal battle over the wording of a ballot question on abortion access is playing out in Cole County Court.

Cole County Judge Daniel Richard Green heard arguments in the trial on Wednesday afternoon. The ACLU is representing a Missouri woman, Anna Fitz-James, suing the state over the wording in the question put on the ballot by Missouri state lawmakers. The ballot measure seeks to remove the abortion access put into the Missouri constitution by the passage of Amendment Three in November 2024.

Judge Green made no ruling on Wednesday.

Amendment Three was put on the ballot by initiative petition, having to receive thousands of signatures from people all over Missouri. It faced several legal challenges along the way, going all the way to the state’s Supreme Court
