Organizers of a ballot measure seeking to end the state's wolf reintroduction program announced they are putting a "pause" on the petition process, an indication they did not collect enough signatures to put the proposal on next year's ballot.
"The campaign exceeded its goal of collecting signatures from volunteers despite limited resources," Patrick Davis of Colorado Advocates for Smart Wolf Policy, said in a a statement on Wednesday.
He stopped short of saying just how many signatures his group collected. The deadline for petitions to show up at the Secretary of State's office for what's known as Initiative No. 13 came and went Wednesday.
