GREECE, N.Y. (WROC) — Less than a week before the tragic catholic school shooting in Minneapolis, first responders in the Rochester area took part in a proactive training surrounding what to do in the event of an active shooter situation at a local school.
Organizers of Friday's training at Holmes Road Elementary School explained the importance of public safety personnel knowing exactly what to do when faced with the unimaginable, as a way of ensuring the utmost preparedness.
Some of the agencies which took part in the training include Greece Police and Monroe Ambulance. Their emergency crews were placed in a staged scenario where a suspect was moving throughout the school and were then taught how to address all potential threats.
