BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Illegal street racing, stunts, and burnouts are once again causing concern in Baton Rouge as police step up enforcement and community members continue to demand change.

Baton Rouge police said they have received multiple complaints about street racing in recent weeks and have made four arrests in connection with those reports.

As an additional tool to help curb the issue, officials are relying on a 2022 ordinance that allows police to charge and tow the vehicles of those caught attending illegal racing events. Police said they are actively enforcing the law.

“No one deserves to lose their life because someone decides to block the streets and make them their playground. If you want a playground, go play in a playground,” Cpl. Saundra Watts said.
