TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - A week after the stabbing at the University of Arizona library, the 17-year-old victim is recovering from her injuries.

13 News spoke exclusively to her mother, Christine Lindsey, on Wednesday, Aug. 27.

She said he daughter, Aaniya Coley, feels numb to the situation, and the family is in shock over the incident.

Lindsey told 13 News that the 17-year-old charged in the incident was Coley’s long-time boyfriend, Andreys Luis Arias. The pair had been together since Coley’s freshman year of high school.

Arias has been charged with felony domestic violence-aggravated assault with physical injury and is being prosecuted as an adult.

According to court documents, Coley was stabbed seven times. She suffered an eye injury and a collapsed lung.
