For Carroll volleyball, there can’t be many nights as memorable as last year’s state finals, when the Chargers beat Yorktown to claim the program’s first state championship.
But Wednesday’s victory over Homestead might be a contender: The Chargers and Spartans took their rivalry match outside to Carroll’s football field, where the teams played in front of a packed home grandstand. Carroll (8-0) prevailed in three sets, 25-18, 25-10, 25-6.
“It exceeded all expectations. There were – not a lot of nerves, but just questions,” Carroll coach Pandy Sinish said. “What’s going to happen here? How is it going to work? Who is going to come? And everything exceeded our expectations. What a memory and an environment for these girls.”
