JACKSONVILLE, Texas (KETK)-- Jacksonville ISD Chief of Police addresses new changes in school safety protocol following Uvalde Act.
In the 89th Texas Legislature, House Bill 33 also known as the Uvalde Strong Act requires detailed communication policies within local government to be in place. It requires all of the law enforcement in the area to work cohesively together.
"Bringing all of these people together and having a common language, having common protocols, procedures and work to ensure that nothing like Uvalde to ever happen again," Jacksonville ISD Chief of Police, Bill Avera said.
Avera is also the former president of the Texas School District Chief of Police Association and he said preparing for active threats are just as important as addressing threats before they happen.
