The city of Santa Fe will begin exploring the possibility of reverting the Santa Fe River's path between Nichols Reservoir and Cerro Gordo to its predevelopment course, something city officials say is a chance to create less of an engineered system in the upper watershed.
"It's just a unique opportunity that we have not had to reevaluate how we manage the river through this system," River and Watershed Manager Zoë Isaacson said in a recent interview.
City councilors on Wednesday night approved a resolution sponsored by Councilors Carol Romero-Wirth and Jamie Cassutt directing the city manager to work with staff and the Santa Fe River Commission to implement a series of items related to the river, including a comprehensive engineering analysis of the Two Mile Pond complex.
