A section of Garcia Street will be blocked off for several months for a water main replacement project, part of what a Santa Fe official described as ongoing work to replace aging infrastructure in the downtown area.
Contractors for the city will be replacing 4,150 feet of water main on Garcia Street between Camino Corrales and Camino del Monte Sol near Museum Hill. Work began Aug. 12 and is anticipated to take about two and a half months, said Randy Lopez, interim transmission and distribution manager for the Water Division, in a Tuesday interview.
Lopez said crews with Sub Surface Contracting will put in new valves, service lines and a new pressure-reducing valve, he said. The project will cost $1.7 million.
