An EasyJet flight to Alicante was forced to divert and land after an "extraordinary" emergency on board. The Easyjet flight jetted off from Manchester Airport at 6pm before landing just 30 minutes later.

The service landed London Gatwick airport after turning around over the English Channel. Passengers were given a second flight, which was scheduled to take holidaymakers to Alicante from Gatwick at 9pm on Wednesday.

EasyJet is yet to speak out on the incident, and explain why the plane suddenly turned around after being in the air for just 30 minutes, with passengers flown back to the UK transport hub despite departing for the European Union holiday hotspot.
