NT Police are searching for a man armed with scissors who allegedly detained and “indecently assaulted” a female in an abandoned vehicle in Palmerston overnight.

Police said they received reports of the incident around 1:45am Thursday morning and that the female did not know the man.

Police allege the man was armed with a pair of scissors, detaining the woman in the abandoned vehicle “in the vicinity of Wright Crescent” in Gray, “refusing to let her out while indecently assaulting her”.

“Both the victim and the offender left the vehicle before the offender fled the scene,” police said in a statement.

“Investigations remain ongoing.”
