LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Keep the rain gear handy as we head through the next few days as isolated showers and storms today, turn more widespread into the weekend.

One good thing about the extra clouds and rain chances will be the cooler temperatures on tap as we are back into the upper 80s to near 90 for our Thursday afternoon.

Showers and storms look to develop mid-morning along the coast and then slowly spread inland as we head through the afternoon and evening.

With any storm that does develop, the bigger concern will be gusty winds, heavy rain and frequent lightning.

A weak cold front is still on track to move in as we head through the weekend and that’s going to keep things more unsettled moving forward.
