PHILADELPHIA (WPHL) — A new era of high speed rail debuts today as Amtrak launches its NextGen Acela.
The trains reach 160 miles per hour, and offer 27% more capacity. There will be 28 new trains by 2027.
The NextGen Acela will run between major city centers from Washington, D.C. to New York to Boston, and destinations in between, including Philadelphia.
You can expect expanded weekday and weekend schedules, free high-speed 5G wi-fi, individual USB ports, power outlets, reading lights, and a new cafe on board.
