Jeff Hoffman found himself on the hot seat this week following yet another blown save, but it didn’t take very long for the 32-year-old to get back in the Blue Jays’ good graces.
One day after getting booed off the field, Hoffman returned to pitch a scoreless ninth against the Minnesota Twins. It wasn’t necessarily pretty, with one deep fly ball out and a double to the corner in left, but it was good enough to pick up his 29th save.
Hoffman has been taking more heat than anyone else on the Jays roster of late and with good reason. His seven blown saves, including three this month, are the second most in the majors while his 14 home runs allowed are tied for the third highest.
