Free speech advocates at the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression have addressed the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga on its two week suspension of Greek Life.

UTC suspended activities following the report of sexual assault and hazing from two seperate fraternities.

The foundation states that the suspension of all 25 fraternities and sororities violates the First Amendment.

FIRE Student Association Counsel Zach Greenberg wrote, "UTC’s suspensions flout the First Amendment and common sense. During the crucial start of the semester, a period where student groups recruit new members and establish themselves on campus, UTC has banned all fraternity and sorority activities of every Greek letter group— including those unconnected to any alleged misconduct".
