EL CENTRO — The Imperial County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday afternoon were presented with the recommended 2025-26 fiscal year budget.

Myra Widmann, the deputy county CEO in charge of finances, told the supervisors the overall recommended budget for the next fiscal year is $755.8 million.

The general fund would increase from last year, going from $132.8 million to $141.3 million in the upcoming fiscal year.

For fire protection, the recommendation showed a slight decrease, going from $12 million to $11.3 million.

Widmann explained that the county would need to have enough in reserves to keep it operational for two months if a disaster related to weather or some other type of emergency occurred, which is $24 million.
