LAKE RONKONKOMA, N.Y. (PIX11) – A woman is accused of crashing into a 13-year-old boy and fleeing in Lake Ronkonkoma on Tuesday, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

Police said 47-year-old Virginia Waka, of Lake Ronkonkoma, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with serious injury. Waka was allegedly driving near the intersection of Hawkins Avenue and School Street around 8:30 p.m. when she hit the teenage e-bike driver, according to authorities.

Police said she’s accused of running from the scene in her 2012 white Ford Fusion on School Street.

The boy was taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.
