Geddes, N.Y. — Wednesday brought 60,614 people to the fairgrounds to celebrate Women’s Day, enjoy sensory-friendly hours and sing along to Tusk, Red Hot Chilli Pipers and Carly Pearce. Today the fair salutes two New York institutions: the men and women who serve our country, and the farmers who keep our dairy glasses full.
Armed Forces Day means free admission for active-duty and veteran military members, an 11 a.m. ceremony at the Veterans Memorial, and a 5 p.m. flyover when Lockheed Martin presents its Hometown Hero Award. Later, the parade steps off at 6 p.m. from the Expo Center.
It’s also Dairy Day, which means plenty of milk, cheese, ice cream and butter (yes, the sculpture). Don’t forget the 25-cent milk in the Dairy Products Building. It’s the best bargain you’ll find at the fair
