GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - City leaders will discuss the future of Gainesville’s downtown streatery at their commission meeting Thursday afternoon,
The meeting is scheduled to include a staff update on the streatery that will touch on furnishings, event and programming rules, naming, and project cost.
The “streatery,” is located at Southwest 1st Avenue between South Main Street and Southwest 2nd Street in downtown Gainesville with renovations set to include a curb-less street with outdoor lighting, 40 electrical outlets for food trucks and more, with the projected cost at more than $3 million.
City leaders hope for the project to be complete by the end of 2026. When it’s done it will be able to host festivals with up to 72 tents and 16 vendors.
