WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - The Kansas Turnpike is closed due to flooding in Sumner County.

Mulvane Fire Rescue said the northbound lanes are closed from Wellington to Mulvane. The flooding is occurring between mile markers 19 and 21.

According to KanDrive, motorists on the Turnpike are being detoured on U.S. Highway 160 to Wellington. Travelers will take U.S. Highway 81 north of Wellington. They are allowed to return to the Turnpike by using Kansas Highway 53 or the Mulvane exit at the Kansas Star Casino.

When traveling, avoid driving through flooded roads.
