WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A Wichita woman who admitted to shooting and killing her son last October pleaded no contest to the crime.

According to Sedgwick County court documents filed this week show Tesha Florence pleaded no contest to second-degree murder, aggravated assault and aggravated robbery.

On Oct. 9, 2024, Wichita police responded to a shooting call at Florence’ apartment near Harry and Webb. They arrived to find Robert lying face down in the living room with a single gunshot wound to the head.

According to an affidavit , Florence told police Robert was a “bad kid” who was into drugs and wouldn’t go to school. She said she accidentally shot Robert after he pulled a gun out of her backpack.

Police noted that Florence was “emotionally distraught” and “fell to the ground and roll
