WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - Local Civil Rights activist and advocate Mary Dean is suing the City of Wichita, Mayor Lily Wu, members of the city council, City Manager Robert Layton and City Attorney Jennifer Magana.

Dean claims that the City of Wichita blocked her proposal for reparations to Wichita's Black community, dismantled diversity, equity and inclusion systems and forcibly removed her from a council meeting on Aug. 7.

She previously filed a complaint against Wu with the Wichita Ethics Board, claiming that the City did not engage with her proposals. The board found Mayor Wu did not violate the code of ethics.

KSN News reached out to the City of Wichita, and a spokesperson said, "The City cannot comment on pending litigation."
