Cambridgeshire locals have been warned of four months of upcoming road closures as water pipe upgrades are carried out. Anglian Water is due to begin work to replace water pipes in Tydd St Giles and Newton to "ensure that water supplies are safe and reliable for decades to come" as part of a £1.2 million project.
The water company sends nearly a billion of litres of drinking water to its customers every day. To maintain service, it said the infrastructure needs maintenance and investment to ensure the taps can keep running over the next few decades.
The projects are expected to be completed early next year. They will be completed using a technique called directional drilling which is designed to prevent digging up large areas.
