Foreign Office officials today told anyone who is going to stay in a major European Country holiday destination that they need to make sure action is taken when they book into a hotel. Officials said there was also a need to make sure people take passports with them whenever they're driving.
The update highlighted how hotels must now register all people staying with the local police - and this means people will have to show their passports.
However, the Foreign Office issued a stark warning to travellers: do not leave your passport with reception and never leave a photocopy with them. The best option is to wait with them while they carry out the registration.
