LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Local speakers and TRIP, a national transportation research nonprofit, are meeting to discuss the findings of a new TRIP report titled “Keeping Michigan Mobile: Providing a Modern, Sustainable Transportation System in the Great Lakes State.”
The report finds that while Michigan has utilized additional state and federal transportation funding to improve its infrastructure, the state continues to face a significant transportation funding gap.
This gap is projected to grow even wider if maintenance is deferred, leading to more costly repairs in the future.
The report evaluates statewide road and bridge conditions, traffic congestion, and highway safety.
According to TRIP, the average driver in the Lansing area loses $1,856 annually due to deteriorated roads and in
