The stage is set for Drake Maye to have a breakout year in New England. But the Patriots apparently weren't quite comfortable with their Plan B behind the second-year quarterback.

Mike Vrabel's club signaled as much Wednesday by claiming Tommy DeVito off waivers following the QB's release from the New York Giants. DeVito became a New York favorite in 2023 when he was thrust into a starting role and won three of his next six games. Now, he has the chance to unseat veteran Joshua Dobbs as the top backup to Maye in New England.
