Toss tortillas up into the air, not on the field, Texas Tech Athletics said

LUBBOCK, Texas -- After a decision by the Big 12 Conference athletics directors earlier in August, some Red Raider fans might be wondering if the tortilla-tossing tradition will continue for Saturday's home opener.

In its fan information for the August 30 game, Texas Tech Athletics said Red Raider fans are encouraged to only throw tortillas during the opening kickoff this season. Officials also asked fans to help protect the tradition by throwing tortillas straight into the air and not on the field.
