LUBBOCK, Texas -- The Lubbock County Sheriff's office said one deputy was shot at Wednesday night at while conducting surveillance for a wanted felon. The deputy was not hit or injured.

Around 10 p.m. Wednesday night, a Lubbock County Sheriff’s deputy was looking for a wanted felon in the area of 34th Street and Salem Ave.

The deputy was inside an unmarked vehicle when suspects opened fire at him. The deputy managed to drive away from the gunfire as multiple bullets punctured the vehicle, ultimately disabling it, and forcing the deputy to come to a stop.

Law enforcement officers from the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, the Department of Public Safety, and the Lubbock Police Department responded to the area.
