HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) - The Indiana Supreme Court has officially set an execution date for the man convicted of murdering a Dale 15-year-old in 2001.
The court rejected Roy Lee Ward's latest appeal argument on Wednesday saying the state's lethal injection poses a constitutional risk. Ward is now scheduled to die at the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City on October 10.
The 44-year-old was sentenced in the rape and murder of Stacy Payne. Investigators say Ward waited for the adults inside of her home to leave for work before approaching the house, pretending that he was looking for a lost dog.
