HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) - The city of Owensboro is set to host many events this September and October with sellout or near sellout weekends for hotels anticipated.

According to a release, September will be the month for conventions and sports tournaments. Bill Strings, a bluegrass legend, is set to perform at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum.

One of the largest conferences in Owensboro's history is also heading for the Owensboro Convention Center on September 23-26 with the Kentucky League of Cities.

“Events like these fuel the jobs in our tourism economy. Local restaurants and bars will feel the impact of these visitors with more customers having to be served. Hotels will have to staff up creating more job opportunity for our residents,” said Dave Kirk, Visit Owensboro.
