A man is due in court over an alleged attack on a police officer in the Black Country.

Jamal Sewell has been charged by police following an incident on Tuesday, August 26.

The 21-year-old, from Walsall , is alleged to have injured a police officer and had a knife on him.

He has been charged with possessing a knife in a public place and assaulting an emergency worker.

Sewell is due to appear before magistrates next month.

West Midlands Police said: "We've charged a man with possessing a knife in a public place in Walsall.

"Jamal Sewell, aged 21 from Walsall, has also been charged with assaulting an emergency worker.

"He is due to appear at Dudley Magistrates Court on September 11.
