DENVER (KDVR) -- The Colorado Department of Transportation is suspending all construction projects over Labor Day weekend, in an effort to reduce potential traffic delays during the busy travel period.

CDOT said Thursday that it will be suspending all non-emergency construction projects starting at noon on Friday.

The projects will resume their regular schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 1, according to the agency.

Where, when traffic will be heaviest

Drivers are reminded that "heavier" traffic should be anticipated over the holiday weekend along the Front Range, on mountain highways and "most notably" on Interstate 70 west of Denver.
