My husband and I are the blessed grandparents of a blended family of five granddaughters: 3, 4, 7, and two 10-year olds. We have had a marvelous summer with them and their parents at our “summer place.”
We have a camper trailer in an RV park, called “Pleasant Point,” on a small lake in Waterport, N.Y., about one hour from our home in Tonawanda. The lake is affectionately called Lake Alice by the locals. This area is very familiar to me and evokes wonderful memories.
My grandparents had a cottage on Lake Ontario. Throughout my childhood, it was a welcoming gathering place for family and friends, with huge pots of corn on the stove and trays of chicken in the oven. I loved spending time with my grandparents; having my own special time with them for two weeks each summer.
