BENTON COUNTY, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A Bentonville detective is accused of shooting and killing Canada geese at a neighborhood pond in Rogers last month, according to a report.

A report filed by the Rogers Police Department said Dennis Epperly was cited for disorderly conduct and unlawful discharge of a firearm within city limits.

The report said that on July 10, an officer responded to a shots fired call at the Shadow Valley Country Club golf course.

The caller said they were fishing at a nearby pond when they believed a man fired a gun in their direction. The report said the caller believed the man was shooting at geese near them, and they tried to yell at the man to stop shooting.

Officers searched the area and did not find any shell casings, dead geese or damage to the surrounding are
