National Weather Service officials are expecting up to 8 foot waves at Lake Michigan’s beaches Thursday as temperatures are expected to be in the low 70s.
Officials issued a beach hazard to remain in effect from 4 p.m. Thursday to Friday afternoon. Officials warn of high wave action and dangerous currents creating dangerous swim conditions at the lake’s beaches in northern and central Cook counties.
Weather officials said to stay out of the water and for visitors not to venture out unto piers, jetties or break walls.
There also is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms Thursday.
Current conditions at Midway Airport is a few clouds at 73 degrees. Farther north at O’Hare International Airport conditions are partly cloudy at 73 degrees.
