SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) There is a report that USC has made a proposal to Notre Dame that would keep the two teams playing for many years beyond this season.

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that USC athletic director Jennifer Cohen is “really hopeful” the schools will reach a new agreement after the California school offered a new proposal to keep the series going.

The contract between the two schools comes to an end after they play at Notre Dame this year and USC has been reluctant to sign a new contract that would extend the series.

The school suggested travel concerns were a factor now that USC is in the Big Ten and must travel to the Midwest often. They also had concerns about the playoffs and the impact the game against Notre Dame would have on their playoff chances.
