The nonprofit organization Friends of the Barrington Public Library are experiencing record-setting levels of book donations. The group receives so many books, in fact, that they need to push pause on all donations until Saturday, Sept. 6.

The Friends of the Barrington Public Library, which serves the sole purpose of raising money for the town’s library, normally limits book donations to Wednesdays and Saturday, but periodically the group needs to pause that schedule.

“We estimate that we process over 20,000 books annually,” wrote Friends official Charles Van Sluyter in a recent email to the Barrington Times. “To handle this high volume of donations, we have trained over 20 volunteers who decide which books to keep, then clean them, price them, and sort them into 30 cat
