IOWA CITY — Iowa’s search for its next left tackle did not end during fall camp.
When the program produced its first depth chart of the 2025 season on Monday, Jack Dotzler and Trevor Lauck shared the top line of the depth chart with Ferris State transfer Bryce George serving as the third string.
On Tuesday, head coach Kirk Ferentz said he expected Lauck to get the nominal start, but said he anticipated both playing a significant amount against UAlbany. He also clarified that the struggle to land on one individual starter was a positive — not a sign that neither player seemed fit for the job.
“Sometimes it’s because you don’t have one and you’ve got to play two,” Ferentz said. “But, I think we have two guys that really have made significant ground and gained significant ground. … If it e
